Mäpt Iyucä-xug (/iˈjucɑ/ /xug/ [movement; motion] [candidate]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Starrybeech Dutchy, Ánjimku Kingdom, within the United Kingdom of Undermountain.

The name Mäpt Iyucä-xug is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Iyucä-xug was founded by Atelerida vyim Rovuldtems, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt Iyucä-xug has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 23°C (73°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 5°C (41°F). Mäpt Iyucä-xug receives an average of 234 cm/y (92 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Iyucä-xug covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1680 m (5511 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mäpt Iyucä-xug was founded durring the early 17th century in early winter of the year 1616, by Atelerida vyim Rovuldtems. The establishment of Mäpt Iyucä-xug was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Mäpt Iyucä-xug's construction back out of the project. Atelerida vyim Rovuldtems pushed on reguardles, and Mäpt Iyucä-xug was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the early 17th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Iyucä-xug is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug is buildings are arranged within a network of spacious baked earthen streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a humble stone fence which is tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. Astonishigly, the peasent-grade are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

A look around Mäpt Iyucä-xug seems to be home to a quite vibrant and boisterous community. Everywhere one looks they can see people going out their daily business with a smile and a spring in their step. Children play loudly in the streets, causing untold havoc as youth are want and allowed to do.

Civic Infrastructure

Mäpt Iyucä-xug has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Mäpt Iyucä-xug. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Mäpt Iyucä-xug's parks.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mäpt Iyucä-xug's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Mäpt Iyucä-xug's grid is powered by a god's will and kindness.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Mäpt Iyucä-xug's natural decorations nor waterways.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Mäpt Iyucä-xug is home to a distinct subculture, who are either the majority here or have the dominant positions in the community. Architecture, local laws, and social customs are all tuned to suit them, and they may not be particularly forgiving or friendly to the major culture of the region. Communities that are not outright independent usually make an arm's-length submission to a local lord.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used has a sleek, linear appearance with stylized, often geometric ornamentation. The primary facade of its buildings often featured a series of set backs that create a stepped outline. Low-relief decorative panels can be found at entrances, around windows, along roof edges or as string courses. It was best known for its use of smooth finish building materials such as stucco, concrete block, glazed brick or mosaic tile. Decorative details can incorporate various artistic or exotic motifs to suit the building's function or the architect's whim. Chevrons, zigzags, and other geometrical motifs are common forms of ornament.

Due to the actions of local Kami, autumn is recurring in Mäpt Iyucä-xug.

The Frog, Giant Dire (3PP) near Mäpt Iyucä-xug are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Mäpt Iyucä-xug's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves bloodletting to channel Augury energies of tier 1 via proclamations.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Mäpt Iyucä-xug was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Mäpt Iyucä-xug lost 113 people, 115 livestock, and 42 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 50, when members of Mäpt Iyucä-xug's militia enacted an operation to delay the operations of the enemy. The operation was complicated by a natural disaster interrupted the operation, shattering unit cohesion. The conflict ended with an assault and siege on the port, which ended in a stalemate for Mäpt Iyucä-xug's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Mäpt Iyucä-xug's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
